There’s nothing quite like the warm, inviting glow of a soy wax candle filling your home with a beautiful fragrance. At ART Designs Studio, we pour love into every single one of our 100% soy wax candles, and we want you to enjoy them for as long as possible. Here’s your friendly guide to making every burn last.
1. Trim Your Wick to ΒΌ Inch Before Every Burn
This is the golden rule of candle care! Before you light your candle, grab a pair of wick trimmers (or scissors) and snip the wick to about ΒΌ inch (roughly 6mm). A short wick means a cleaner, brighter flame with less smoke and soot. It also prevents mushrooming β that little carbon ball that forms on the tip β which can make your candle burn unevenly.
2. Let the Wax Pool Reach the Edges
This takes a little patience, but it’s so worth it. On your first burn (and every burn thereafter), let the candle melt all the way across the top until the liquid wax reaches the edges of the container. A good rule of thumb is 1 hour of burn time per inch of diameter, with a maximum of 4 hours per session. If you blow it out too soon, you’ll create “tunneling” β a ring of unmelted wax around the edge that wastes a lot of candle.
3. Never Leave a Burning Candle Unattended
Safety first, always! Make sure your candle is on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from anything flammable. Keep it out of reach of children and pets, and never leave the room while it’s lit. A candle is a beautiful companion, but it deserves your watchful eye.
4. Keep It Away from Drafts
Drafts from windows, fans, or air conditioning can cause your candle to flicker wildly, burn unevenly, or produce excess soot. Find a nice, still spot for your candle and it will reward you with a steady, peaceful flame.
5. Store in a Cool, Dark Place
When your candle is not in use, store it away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Soy wax is natural and can soften or discolor if left in a warm spot. A cupboard or pantry is perfect. Also, keep the lid on when not burning to preserve the fragrance and keep dust out.
6. Don’t Burn to the Very Bottom
Stop burning your candle when about Β½ inch of wax remains at the bottom. Burning past this point can cause the container to overheat. Consider it a perfect excuse to clean out the container and repurpose it β they make lovely holders for trinkets, plants, or makeup brushes!
With these simple tips, you’ll get the most out of every ART Designs Studio soy wax candle. Light one up, take a deep breath, and enjoy the cozy moment. π―οΈβ¨
